On Sunday December 16 the Southwest Bullet’s atom Shamrock
team sponsored by Gary Graham Transport played host to the East Lambton
Eagles. After a tie earlier in league
play Southwest was determined to come out in the “w” column and extend their
winning streak to 3.
It was an edge of your seat game that showed some amazing passing and teamwork for Southwest. With 2 minutes into the first Southwest’s defender Dylan Gould determinedly kept the puck in the Eagles end by sending it to the corner. Jack McAlpine battled hard at the boards and came out victorious. McApine took a look and sent the puck to Tanner Doxtator who was alone and waiting in front of the Eagles net. Doxtator connected with the puck and beat the netminder to put Southwest in the lead 1-0. It was a great show of teamwork that paid off.
Second and third period action saw the players work hard at shutting down the Eagles at every opportunity. In the last seconds of play a fluke bounce at Southwest’s blue line sent an Eagle’s player towards goaltender Ethan Peixoto whose quick reflexes stopped the puck just before it slid across the goal line. It was a game winning save that ensured that the Bullet’s take home the win 1-0. Tyson Hesketh and Peixoto were strong between the pipes and shared the shutout.
Next hockey action for the team is Saturday December 22nd when they travel to Parkhill.
