The Southwest Bullets Shamrock team travelled to Delhi this weekend for the Tobacco Town tournament.   Southwest’s first opponent was the host Delhi.  Delhi proved ready to play and their home ice advantage proved to be key as the bullets had trouble adjusting to the deep offensive and defensive zones.   Delhi went ahead 4-0 by the 5 minute mark of the second period.   With Southwest struggling to find a way to solve Delhi finally got on the board at the 2:14 mark of the second period with a nice centering pass from Trenton Lunn over to Jayden Keating.  Southwest was able to hold Delhi in the third thus tying the period for half a point.   All round robin games were on a point system.

Southwest next opponent was Six Nations on Saturday.  Southwest was more prepared for this game.  As both teams battled back and forth   Six Nations opened the scoring at the 4:38 mark of the first.  Southwest not to be outdone when Jordan Cronin blasted through the right wing to ring one off the right post and in to even the score at one on a shorthanded goal.  Assist going to Trenton Lunn.   Six Nations scored two more goals in the second to go ahead 3-1 but Southwest had many good chances but could not solve the Six Nations goalie.   Into the third both teams were working hard Six Nations widened the gap early in the third to make it 4-1.   Southwest never gave up and narrowed the gap on a power play goal by Dylan Gould  assisted by Jack McAlpine.   In the final minutes of the game Southwest was buzzing the net a power play but again snake bitten but the goal gods.  Final score 4-2 Six Nations.

After the round robin was completed.  Southwest was seeded 7th out of 9 teams.   Their next game was Sunday morning vs. Pt.Stanley.  This game was tight game all the way through with neither team being able to score in regulation.  In the dying minutes Southwest had a couple breakaways but Port’s goalie stood tall.   Port Stanley had their opportunities as well but goalie Jacob Moore wasn’t going to make it easy for them.   After regulation time was over the Bullets went into a 5 minute overtime period.   Neither team was able to score in the 5 minutes.  Next was a 1 minute intervals dropping a player on each side after the time frame. 5 on 5 for one minute no score. They then moved to 4 on 4 during that time Southwest was called for a penalty thus dropping Southwest to 4 on 3 situation.  But to no avail no score at the end of that overtime minute . The ooh and aawhs could be heard from the crowds on every play that happened.  3 on 2 proved to be the right trick for Port Stanley as a collision at the port Stanley Blue line with the ref transitioned into a breakaway goal for Port Stanley to send them to the Consolation Finals.  Final score 1-0
