2014 Aylmer Tournament Finalists
The Bantam Rep team travelled to Aylmer this past weekend for their annual tournament.

The boys played South Kent Friday night in a very exciting game.  With the goalie pulled they tied the game 2-2 in the dying seconds.  In their first game Saturday the boys faced off with the host team Aylmer.  In another very exciting game where the goalie was pulled again, the boys tied the game 4-4 in the dying seconds.  The 3rd game of the tournament wasn't as stressful on the coaches and the parents as the boys beat Hagersville 7-0.

The team finished 2nd in their division as a result of a failed penalty shot in a game between 2 other teams (the 3rd tie breaker was based on goals against).  This pitted them against the 1st place team, Tavistock, who was in the other division for the semi finals.  Tavistock had previously beat the bantam team by a score of 9-0 in the Meaford tournament so the boys were in tough.  With a strategy of shadowing their best player, which worked to perfection, and the boys working very hard on each shift, they came away with a 2-1 upset win over the top ranked team in the tournament.

This put the team into the finals against another strong team from Mitchell.  Unfortunately the referee woke up in a bad mood and ruined what could have been a good game.  Even the Mitchell coach agreed with that assessment after the game.
