Bullets shoot at the Stars
The Southwest Minor Hockey Novice Shamrock Team sponsor by the Glencoe Lions club travelled to Parkhill to take on the North Middlesex Stars. With a skeleton team with 8 skaters Southwest and a few more still under the weather competed very well against their rivals in the North.

Parkhill scored one late in the first period at the 1:51 mark. Brad McAlpine earned his first penalty late in the 1st but the resilient Bullets proved they were not going to let the Stars score on this penalty. Into the second period the action continued back and forth until the six minute mark with McAlpine earning another trip to the box. This time the bullets did very well again but as the penalty expired the stars snuck a power play goal in the same time the penalty expired. After the second period Stars 2 Bullets 0. In the third at the 11:39 mark the Bullets started losing their legs and the Stars peppered Devin Graham with six goals in a seven minute span. With 3:41 left in the game the Bullets woke up and showed their second wind. McAlpine sniped top corner with assists going to Jordan McIntyre and Kelvin Huston. On the same shift 38 seconds later a breakout pass from the Bullets end from Evan Demaiter up to Jaxon Aubertin to set up McAlpine for his second goal on the short side. By this time the stars were shaking in their boots as it looked like the Bullets were taking over the game. With the quick barrage of two goals the Stars then took a penalty to try and stymie the Bullets. But to no avail McAlpine potted his hat trick 37 seconds into the power play with scramble in front of the Stars net with Wyatt Johnson and Noble Stonefish getting the helpers. Unfortunately we the Bullets ran out of time to complete the comeback. Final score North Middlesex 8- Southwest 3 Mr Big for the game was Noble Stonefish who played pretty much the whole third period on “D”

Southwest begins the Silverstick Tournament in Parkhill on the 27th against Parkhill. With some turkey in their bellies and a full bench the outcome is sure to be an exciting one.
